Vers minuit, à la lueur de la chandelle, monsieur Henry Dickson, devant l'âtre où brûle des bûches d'érables et de vieux parchemins, se penche sur son écritoire. Tout est tranquille dans la grande maison, tout semble dormir et, soudain,
il y a ce bruit.
